Hello, my name is Jenny. I am going on three months of working at Stardock, so I am still fairly new here. I am not the most computer savvy person in the world, so unfortunately I’m making everyone suffer along with me as I learn the ropes!

My husband Scott (Boogiebac) has been working for Stardock for about five years, and at that time there were only a handful of employees. I remember thinking it so cool that he worked for such a small but successful company. The company is still fairly small, but since then has grown to employee about four or five times what it started out to.

This is definitely a big change from my previous field of work (I was an Optometric Technician), and it is really quite a lifestyle change for me. I think it is definitely a good thing, and let me just say that it is priceless having weekends and evenings off, as opposed to retail hours. Ah, such a luxury! I have always had quite physical and fast-paced jobs, so I still find it an adjustment to learn to sit still for more than an hour at a time at a desk. Oh well, I had to get a “real job” sometime! However, I can say that Stardock’s location is quite perfect. Just before I started, the company moved into a new office to accommodate for the growth, and it is set in front of a small nature preserve that encompasses a creek chock-full of wildlife such as turtles, fish, frogs, heron, muskrats, and an occasional deer. There is no better cure for the gloominess of being stuck inside looking at a computer screen all day, although I have heard complaints of it being a distraction when some get transfixed in a daze looking out the window.

It is also strange to go from working with nine other females to working in a very much male dominant environment. The girls I worked with got along so well that we were considered to be friends before coworkers. I actually pick up a shift or two every week just to keep my sanity and be one of ‘the girls”. You know how fun and silly girls can be when they get together!

So this is my formal “introduction” as a newbie on JoeUser. I look forward to hearing from everyone!

welcome, jenny! I'm sure you'll be "briefed" by your coworkers on some of our more "dysfunctional" family members, so I'll spare you the gruesome details....lol!

Seriously, though, welcome aboard! We're looking forward to seeing what you have to write!
