We went camping this weekend up north to my husband's grandparents' property. They own over 140 acres of what used to be farm land in the tiniest town you have ever seen. Seriously I would guess the population to be around 100! So it is very nice property with a river for canoeing, but besides that, is pretty boring and in the middle of nowhere. Anyways, the whole family (extended family, which is usually around 50 people) go up to the property to camp for over a week. Oh, did I mention that this property is just the land, that means no bathrooms or showers or electricity what so ever. Now you see why we just went for the weekend?

We had a good time, and it was great to spend time with family we dont normally get to see often, but I tell you, I could never spend more than a few days there. I feel bad because my husband loves going there and he's used to it because they have been going for so long. I told him he could go without me for as long as he likes, or if he wants to wait for me, we can go for just the weekend. He wanted me to go so it ended up being a short trip, but I feel as if I am robbing him of his vacation with his family by only staying one night.

So we had fun and enjoyed ourselves, but nothing makes you appreciate home more than going camping and getting dirty and coming home for the little luxuries we normally take for granted! Like clean feet

Yeah, your feet were pretty gross

Imagine if we stayed the whole week like my parents...you'd be more dirt than woman.

That's a lovely picture. I can imagine how it would be for you after two days!!

That looks beautiful. I think I am the same as you, I could handle that for a couple of days, and then I would miss my home comforts. I just wasn't made for the great outdoors!

Thanks, and yeah, maybe its a girl thing? I have friends who actually will do their hair and makeup while campground camping! Now, I'm not that bad, but I still can't "rough it" for that long without feeling nasty. Especially when it rains.

If it weren't for bug (I hate bugs) I love to go camping.  What you were doing isn't the traditional "camping", though.  A bathroom of some sort is a "must" for me, as is a place to get cleaned up.  Of course, if everyone stinks, they don't notice that you do, also

I grew up camping.  It is ok.  But having my druthers, I would rather have a shower and be clean!  I have seen both sides now, but I prefer the decadent side!

Haha! Well Scott's family did actually rent one port-a-potty......but lets just say 1 of those per 30 people that were there.....I actually preferred the woods! You would have hated the bugs too; I came back with mosquito bites all over my legs, and since it really was in the woods, there were tons of grasshoppersm, bugs, and frogs every where you stepped!

I'm with you!

Sounds good to me but I don't think I could do it for more than a month or two.
